I tried to migrate some basic stuff from classic ASP to dot net.

Hated it.

Bought several books. Read them cover to cover.

I still can’t make myself understand why they took a fairly streamlined scripting language like classic ASP and turned it into typical MS bloatware.

I also can’t figure out why they think a server-side script needs “events.” There are no “events”, except - ooops, a request came in! They’re trying to mold web apps to fit into their overal Visual (Basic, C++, etc) scheme, and it just leaves you with a mess.

As much as I hate java servlets for overcomplicating simple web applications, dot net is worse.
