You know how tons of recipes call for “simmer” or “boil” over “high” or “medium-high” heat? There’s a problem with that. Most people don’t know what a simmer is, they don’t know how to regulate temperature on their stove, and every stove’s idea of “high” or “medium” is totally different.
Would you buy a car with a speedometer that said “Slow, Kinda Slow, Okay, Faster, Fast?” Would you buy a car knowing every car’s speedometer was different? Hell no. So why do we buy stoves like this?
Maybe we need a stove that can sense the temperature of the stuff on it? They sell things like this, so why can’t we incorporate them into a hood. This hood would sense the temperature of the stuff on the stove and communicate to the stovetop. The stovetop would automatically increase or decrease the temperature of the burners.
The only problem I see is if there’s a lid on the pot, in which case there wouldn’t be a signal.
Oh well…
